Three people died in tragic fire.

MATATIELE-THE community of Maluti outside Matatiele in the Eastern Cape remains in shock following the tragic deaths of three close relatives whose lives were cut short in a horrific fire at their home. Motseki Kgumamang (21), Karabo Manyokole (23), and Lebamang Manyokole (33) all died on the incident.
Their four-roomed RPD house was engulfed by fire. Although the cause of the fire remains unknown, the community said they saw the smoke covering their area and when they investigated, it was discovered that the house was burnt.
They saw the bodies of the victims inside the house and police were subsequently informed.
The community added that the house was in good condition before the fire. Karabo and Lebamang were brothers, and Motseki was their cousin. Their sister Tanki Manyokole Booi was distraught by the incident and Modiehi Motumi, a neighbour, said that the entire village was in mourning.
Motumi said the victims were members of the local church and further described them as the most dedicated individuals who loved God. “On that morning, I heard neighbours screaming for help, and when I went outside, I saw a large cloud of smoke. I believe that the victims died while calling for help, and no one was available to save their lives,” Motumi said.
Karabo and Motseki were both students at Ingwe Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College, Maluti campus, but they also worked during the holidays. Lebamang worked as a builder.
“When they arrived here in Maluti, they wanted to work but later registered at the college to further their qualifications,” said Motumi.
Community members and some individuals dug deep into their pockets to help the family bury the victims after a call for donations was made on social media.
The victims were laid to rest on Saturday, at Queen’s Mercy Ha Kotswana.
