“There Can Never Be Peace Between a Criminal and a Police Officer” : Lt General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi

Lt General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi held a media briefing on Sunday morning to update the province of KwaZulu-Natal and South Africans about the work of the political killings task team.

General Mkhwanazi gave feedback on the arrests made, where he mentioned that a total of 436 suspects were arrested and charged, 156 firearms recovered, and 55 firearms were ballistically linked to the political related cases, 35 suspects who are members of the SAPS were arrested.

The General revealed that one Mr. Brown Mokgotsi sent a whatsapp to him, where he attached a police letter and a register that is used by only police and a screenshot of a presentation that was made on the 30th of September 2024. “This man is not a policeman but has classified information,” said Mkhwanazi. He continued and revealed shocking information that left the South Africans with questions and doubts involving Minister Senzo Mchunu and the national deputy Commissioner Lt Gen Shadrack Sibiya.

Mkhwanazi said that minister Mchunu invited him to his state house in Pretoria to make peace between Lt General Mkhwanazi and Lt General Sibiya “Surely there can never be peace between a criminal and a police officer” said Mkhwanazi

Lt General Sibiya denied allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi during a press briefing on Sunday stating that he’s made baseless accusations.

“First and foremost, I must say that I’m very much disappointed and shocked because the last time I spoke to General Mkhwanazi was on Friday, and all was well,” said Sibiya, speaking to SABC news.
