Security Guards Robbed at Gqeberha Hospital, Authorities Call for Justice
GQEBERHA- Over the weekend, a daring robbery took place at Livingstone Hospital in Gqeberha, where three armed men targeted and robbed female security guards.
The incident occurred just before 1 am on Sunday, 16th March, leaving the guards shaken but thankfully unharmed.
According to Siyanda Manana, Director of Communications at the Eastern Cape Department of Health, “The armed men entered through the hospital’s main entrance, opposite Shoprite, and confront the guards inside the guard house.”
They pointed them with guns and took their personal phones and the company cell phone. No staff or patient was affected during the incident,” Manana confirmed.
This is not the first time such an attack has occurred at the hospital, and the authorities are taking action.
Manana stated, “We implore everyone who might have seen or heard anything about the incident to please contact the police, so that the perpetrators can be brought to justice.”
The Department of Health is providing psychosocial support to the affected guards and is working closely with law enforcement to apprehend those responsible for the crime.
In a stand against such incidents that infringe on people’s rights to healthcare and safety, Manana urged the community to assist in the investigation.
With a united effort, justice can prevail and healthcare facilities can be safeguarded for all.
