NLC WORKSHOP BOOSTS OPPORTUNITIES FOR NON-PROFITS IN EAST LONDON
EAST LONDON- East London recently hosted a helpful workshop organized by the National Lotteries Commission (NLC) in collaboration with the Department of Social Development (DSD).
The event, held at the Premier Hotel Regent on August 11, 2025, aimed to assist non-profit organizations in navigating the funding application process.
One of the attendees was a soccer club from Parkside Sisadukashe, which had previously received funding from the NLC.
They came to the workshop to get help with reapplying for financial support. Deon Nuwer, an administrator at Boader Icon and Sports, shared his hopes for their application, saying, “We came here to apply for NLC funding. We’ve never been funded by them, but we saw a chance and decided to run with it.”
The NLC encouraged organizations with businesses that are 6 to 9 months old to apply for funding, explaining that many funds often go unused because of a lack of applications.
Another participant, Swaphi Balisa from the Sbindi Amantinde organization in Qonce, expressed gratitude for the chance to apply for funding after missing last year’s workshop.
NLC representatives assured everyone that they are working to make their website more user-friendly to help with future applications.
This workshop highlighted the NLC’s commitment to supporting non-profit organizations in the Eastern Cape, opening doors for many to secure much-needed funding.
