FUEL PRICES HAVE INCREASED FOR SOUTH AFRICAN MOTORISTS

South African drivers will need to dig a little deeper into their pockets as fuel prices have increased on the 2nd of July 2025.

The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy has announced these price adjustments, and they are mainly due to higher global oil prices.

According to spokesperson Robert Maake, petrol prices have a rise of 55 cents per litre for petrol 93 and 52 cents for petrol 95.

Diesel users face even bigger hikes, with prices went up by 82 to 84 cents per litre, depending on the type. Additionally, illuminating paraffin will increased by 67 cents wholesale and 89 cents at retail.

While the rand has strengthened slightly against the US dollar, dropping from R18.11 to R17.84, it hasn’t been enough to counter the rising international costs.

In some good news, LPGas prices will dropped by 57 cents per kilogram in most areas, although in the Western Cape, it increased by R1.90 per kilogram. The slate levy remains unchanged at zero cents per litre.

These changes are expected to put extra pressure on households and transport operators, impacting the cost of living in the weeks to come. Motorists should prepare for these changes as they fill up their tanks!
