Man sentenced to life imprisonment for killing girlfriend

LUSIKISIKI-The Lusikisiki Regional Court has sentenced 31-year-old Mxolisi Dingezweni to life imprisonment for murdering his 30-year-old girlfriend. The incident occurred on March 22, 2024 at the victim’s home in KwaNtlele.
According to Captain Welile Matyolo, provincial spokesperson, the murder followed an argument between the couple at a local tavern the previous day. Dingezweni stabbed his girlfriend to death and was arrested on 23 March remaining in custody until sentencing on 28 May.
Brigadier Vukile Ntuli, acting OR Tambo District commissioner welcomed the sentence condemning gender-based violence as a “devastating scourge in our society.”
Ntuli emphasized that Dingezweni’s actions were a betrayal of trust and inflicted immense pain on the victim’s family, hoping the life sentence would bring some closure.
