Pressure mounts on Nasreddine Nabi as Kaizer Motaung Jr demands top 8 finish
Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr has put pressure on head coach Nasreddine Nabi by demanding a top 8 finish in the league.
With two games left to play, Amakhosi find themselves in ninth place, but last weekend’s Nedbank Cup final win over Orlando Pirates should give them the belief they can pick up the points needed to put them in the top half of the table.
Speaking on 5fm’s, Motaung Jr reiterated how important it was for the club to finish in the top half, especially after they missed out on that target last season, where they could only manage 10th place.
“We need to be [in the top 8],” Motaung Jr, son of club founder and chairman Kaizer Motaung said on 5fm.
“We know our objectives before the season started. We missed out on it last year… We are going to give everything that we can to make sure that we feature in every cup possible next season.
“It’s two tough games – Polokwane City and Sekhukhune, teams that are actually doing well this season. So, it won’t be easy but from our side it’s a must.
“We need to be in the top 8 and give everything we can to make sure we do that.” Despite Nabi helping the club end a 10-year trophy drought last weekend, the Tunisian has found himself fighting for his job after a difficult season. Earlier this week, reports suggested the club had decided to part ways with their coach at the end of the season, but Motaung Jr denied this.
However, he did reveal they were due to have a meeting with Nabi at the end of the season to assess where they were as a club.
