UDM TAKES ACTION AGAINST KSD MAYOR FOR ALLEGED MISUSE OF MUNICIPAL FUNDS

MTHATHA- Trouble brews in Mthatha as the United Democratic Movement (UDM) in the Eastern Cape files a case against King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality (KSD) Executive Mayor Cllr.

Nyaniso Nelani and two Mayoral Committee Members. The accusations are misusing approximately R180,000 of municipal funds to attend an ANC event in Durban under false pretenses.

The event, supposedly a government-backed ‘back to school’ program hosted by Deputy Minister Nokuzola Capa, was allegedly used as a cover for the expenditure.

UDM Provincial Secretary Bulelani Bobotyane expresses concern, stating, “UDM councillors in KSD have taken action against the Executive Mayor for allegedly diverting funds meant for a back-to-school program to organize an ANC event.”

Bobotyane emphasizes the UDM’s stance against corruption, underscoring the importance of holding leaders accountable. The case (CAS 81/4/2025) signifies a stand against misuse of public resources.

The outcome of this case could have significant ramifications for the municipality’s governance and its dedication to serving the community. As concerns swirl around governance and accountability, questions loom over the leadership within KSD.

Despite attempts to reach the KSD Municipality for comment, no response has been forthcoming at the time of publication.

Stay tuned as this unfolding story sheds light on the importance of transparency and integrity in our local governance.
