EFF YOUTH COMMAND DEMANDS ACCOUNTABILITY
KOMANI- The EFF Youth Command (EFFYC) in the Eastern Cape has raised a howl of protest over the shocking injury sustained by Grade 12 student Viwe Zitha at KwaKomani Technical School.
The incident, where Zitha lost a finger during a woodwork project, has exposed the Department of Education’s grave negligence in addressing longstanding safety concerns in the institution.
In a scathing statement, the EFFYC declared, “We refuse to let this injustice slide. Heads must roll.”
Their demands for accountability stem from the mishandling of Zitha’s injury, with allegations that he was inadequately treated at Frontier Hospital and that his family faced further distress from school management and the School Governing Body (SGB).
The EFF swiftly rallied behind Zitha’s family, vowing to pursue justice relentlessly. “We will stand by the family in their quest for accountability,” they affirmed, highlighting the urgent need for action.
The EFFYC’s demands include the immediate provision of safety equipment for technical subject students, accountability for missing school funds, urgent infrastructural improvements, and comprehensive support for Zitha and his family.
The EFFYC’s resolute stance underscores the unwavering commitment to safeguarding the well-being of learners and holding those in power accountable for their actions.
As the battle for justice rages on, the spotlight remains firmly on the urgent need for change in school safety protocols.
