UNVEILING A BRIGHT FUTURE
QONCE- The Buffalo City Metropolitan Geographical Names Committee (BCMGNC) is seeking input from residents and stakeholders for renaming provincial geographical features.
This exciting initiative aims to shine a spotlight on notable figures and echo the vibrant history and culture of the region.
“We believe that our geographical features should tell the story of who we are as a community, embracing our identity and roots,” shared a committee member during the public consultation kickoff at Qonce City Hall.
Residents and stakeholders are eagerly invited to take part in shaping the future landscape, with meetings scheduled at Mdantsane NU7 Community Hall and East London City Hall.
These sessions provide a platform for engagement and feedback on proposed changes, fostering a collective decision-making process.
Highlighted proposals include renaming the New Road infrastructure interchange on N2 to Inkosi Mabhece Tshatshu Interchange, and the newly built interchange connecting Bhisho, Qonce, and Monti N2 to Inkosi Phakamisa Tshatshu Interchange.
The renaming of Breidbarch Interchange N2 to Rev J P Ncaca Interchange and transforming Gompo Township into Clement Kadalie Residence are among the exciting changes on the horizon.
“We encourage our community to actively participate in this transformative journey, as these name changes will shape our shared narrative and foster a sense of pride and belonging,” emphasized a committee spokesperson.
To ensure a transparent and inclusive process, all feedback from residents will be carefully considered before final decisions are made. The BCMGNC is dedicated to making these changes a beacon of positive impact and communal unity.
