Municipality Rallies for Safe Food Practices in Ward 16 Spaza Shops

BIZANA- The Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality in Ward 16 (Bizana) joined forces for a joint operation on Tuesday, 4 March. The focus was inspecting spaza shops and championing safe food handling practices.

“We want to ensure that the food available in our community is not only delicious but also safe for consumption,” shared a municipality official leading the initiative.

With a collective effort from local authorities and stakeholders, the operation left no stone unturned. The teams meticulously scrutinized food items in every spaza shop within the ward, verifying their quality and condition.

But it wasn’t just about inspections. Officials also took the time to empower shop owners with valuable insights on proper food handling and storage techniques. “By educating our local vendors, we can prevent contamination and keep foodborne illnesses at bay,” emphasized another dedicated official.

The municipality is calling on the public to be vigilant and report any concerns regarding food safety or handling to the relevant authorities. Remember, your voice matters in keeping our community healthy!
