Mbombela Stadium chosen as MTN8 final venue

Orlando Pirates will face Stellenbosch in the final showpiece on September 13 at 6pm, in a repeat of last season’s match where Pirates claimed victory with a 3-1 win.

The Buccaneers secured their final place this time around with a 4-1 penalty shootout win over Mamelodi Sundowns after their two semi finals ended in 1-1 draws, while Stellies defeated Sekhukhune United 3-1 on aggregate over two legs

It is the first time the Mbombela Stadium will host the MTN8 final since 2016 when Bidvest Wits defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 3-0.

The news was announced during Wednesday’s draw at PSL headquarters.
