14-year-old Killed Over Bread and Jam

MQANDULI-A disturbing incident has shaken the community of Mhlahlane in Mqanduli. A 14-year-old boy died after being brutally assaulted for allegedly stealing bread and jam.

Leader at Khula Community Development Project Petros Majola said, “The child, who was reportedly from a struggling household reliant on his government grant was beaten on 05 May 2025 and succumbed to his injuries on 11 May 2025.”

Four individuals, two men and two women have been arrested in connection with the incident.

In addition, the community is still reeling from the shocking event, which has raised concerns about violence and child welfare.

The case highlights the need for support systems to address poverty and protect vulnerable children. As the community mourns the loss of the young life, questions are being asked about the circumstances leading to this tragic event.
